The Great Elevator Chase: by Leon Castro Thomas

Created by Liz 3 years ago
So, this story begins at the Transport Museum in London. Mum needed the toilet. This left me with Uncle David. He rapidly shuffled towards an elevator, to set of for the upper floors. I told him to stop and wait for Mum but ,alas , he did not. I watched as he chose a button in the lift still telling him to wait.

He chose the 2nd floor.  I raced up the stairs to greet him, as Mum had asked me to keep tabs on him. I decided to go back into the same pose creating the illusion of the lift not moving. He began to walk out only too notice me standing there telling him “wait for Lizzie”. He groaned and told me to “go away” before hitting the 5th floor.

I raced up  to repeat that we “needed to wait”. This time he strode purposefully towards me, unsure on his intentions I leapt back before realizing he was now going to the 3rd.  After the doors opened i hopped in and pressed the ground floor button before leaping out and running down the stairs. When the doors finally opened, I grabbed him and herded him past the exhibits till I found mum.

He told mum that I “needed a good talking to” He said that again in the evening. After this he seemed to think that we weren't friends. (He) decided to make amends apologising. I told him that “we were never not friends”. He stayed annoyed with - and mistrustful of me - for a very long time. Anytime anything broke in the house after that he would suggest I was the one responsible!

Leon aged around 7 or 8 used to tease Dave saying “David the flying alien space cats are coming, we need to run”
Dave “No stop telling lies”
Dave to Liz “Your son belongs in a padded cell.”
